Before I was a travel writer, journalist, tour guide or any other profession, I was a bicycle messenger on the mean streets of New York City in the eighties.
The experience left an indelible mark on my soul, and if you got in my way jaywalking I may have left an indelible mark on you. (Sorry, I was in a rush back then.)
So cycling has and hopefully always will be a big part of my life. Over the last decade I’ve gotten into bicycle journalism and have written many cycling articles for sports magazines, business media and websites.

For a few years I contributed a story or two a year to Bicycle Times Magazine, which now seems to be defunct. Some of the work I’ve done for them is still online, but not all of it.
My longest story, Eastern Taiwan by 11 and 9 seems to be offline, but I have a PDF copy of it somewhere. There’s a bit of a teaser for it here. Portions of it are online at the Bicycle Adventures Website.
Rolling Exposure: Portland’s Naked Bike Ride, which was one of the most fun to research and write (not to mention the thrill of seeing my name appear in naked people font) isn’t online at their site, but it is alive and well (naked people font and all) on mine.
